EGLISE NOTRE-DAME DE L'ASSOMPTION
48400 BARRE-DES-CEVENNES
This church, owned by the bishop of Mende, consists of a nave of three Romanesque vaulted vaulted semicircular arches with doubleaux. The vaulted apse at the end of the oven is preceded by a slightly broken cradle bay, constituting a small choir. A chapel to the north (14th century) and three to the south were added, as well as a span to the west (15th century). This span form porch in its lower part. A ribbed vault separates this porch from the gallery covered with a cross-shaped ogive. Outside, the apse presents a beautiful device of rubble where alternate limestone and sandstone. A cornice, supported by a series of bare modillions, emphasizes the edge of the roof. A campanile was raised at the end of the 18th century, against the west facade of the porch.
