LAC PIED-DE-BORNE
48800 PIED-DE-BORNE
Lake Pied-de-Borne is part of a complex dedicated to hydroelectric power production at the EDF plant in Pied-de-Borne. This complex includes several lakes: Villefort, Rachas, Roujanel, and Puylaurent, located respectively on the Altier, Chassezac, and Borne rivers.
These lakes are known for their exceptionally clear waters—except during upstream floods—which blend beautifully with the shale-colored valleys. However, access to the shores is often difficult and hazardous due to steep slopes, unstable banks, and the remoteness of access roads (particularly at Roujanel).
Classified as first-category waters, these lakes are home to brown and rainbow trout, minnows, and chub.
