ARCS DE SAINT-PIERRE
48150 SAINT-PIERRE-DES-TRIPIERS
The Arcs de Saint-Pierre site is located at the southwestern tip of the Causse Méjean, between the Tarn and Jonte valleys. It is a ruiniform and chaotic landscape, featuring natural arches, prehistoric caves, and dolomitic rock formations.
The site boasts remarkable botanical diversity, linked to the presence of dolomitic sands within a mosaic of dry grasslands, cliffs, and dolomitic outcrops. This dolomitic substrate supports the growth of several rare and characteristic plant species.
The Grey Long-eared Bat (Plecotus austriacus), a notable southern species, is also found here, inhabiting both open and semi-open environments as well as the karst landscape.
