DOMAINE DE GABALIE - ISPAGNAC

Sylvain Gachet, the first winemaker to settle in Lozère in the Gorges du Tarn where he creates in Ispagnac in 2003 the Domaine de Gabalie. The vineyards cover 6 ha distributed in 3 different places of the valley: on the clay-limestone slopes of Ispagnac and Molines, on the schistous terraces of Faux at an altitude between 500m and 700m. Much of the work is manual, only half of the plots are mechanizable. For the red wine, the choice of grapes was Pinot Noir, Syrah and Marsellan, for the white it is the Chardonnay that will be retained. The vines are planted with a high density (7,500 vines / ha) with a yield objective of 25/30 hectoliters for red and 40 hectoliters for white. Trellising helps to raise vegetation to seek the sun and get better maturation.
