The Nîmes-le-Vieux trail offers a variety of landscapes typical of the Causse Méjean: stony and arid ridges, deep troughs redrawn by the sinuous line of plows, cornices that stand like ramparts and vast expanses of jagged rocks whose forms question and captivate the visitor at the same time. On the causse Méjean, the ruiniform chaos born of the capricious dissolution of the dolomitic limestone, arises like an ultimate belvedere before the abyss of the gorges surrounding the causse.
