HISTORICAL CENTRE OF MEYRUEIS
48150 MEYRUEIS
Nestled in the site of the Gorges de la Jonte, between Causses and Cévennes, at the heart of the Cévennes National Park, the peaceful village of Meyrueis is rich with its heritage, its natural environment, traditions of its region and multiple sports activities.
Ancient commercial town, overlooked by the 'Rocher du Château', formerly adorned by the fortress of a barony in Anduze, Meyrueis has kept a high-quality architectural heritage. Medieval and Renaissance houses, Towers and rampart gates, classic Hôtels Particuliers punctuate the picturesque alleys, while the church Saint Pierre and the octagonal Protestant temple are testaments of the severity of old religious wars.
With old traditions, the region of Meyrueis still has an important farming activity. The region is fully in the UNESCO World Heritage area.
