CHATEAU DE SALGAS - VEBRON

The Château de Salgas is located near Vébron in Lozère and has been registered on the Historical Monuments list since 1991.

This castle has been mentioned as early as 1312. There is nothing left of the medieval castle that was most likely entirely transformed during the 16th or 17th century. Modifications were made from the 18th century. The ones from the 19th century have contributed to emphasise the 18th-century appearance by adding pediments on the main facades and the south balcony, transforming the entrance gate, changing flagstone into slates, creating garrets with dormers, building a north-west tower...

The care provided to the outdoor environment follows the same process. The castle has a residential aspect that no longer presents military or defensive references.
