SAINT-CHELY-DU-TARN - GORGES DU TARN CAUSSES
SAINT-CHELY-DU-TARN
48210 GORGES DU TARN CAUSSES
The Hamlet of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn is located at the Bottom of a vast cliff, on the left bank of the Tarn, almost in the middle of the Gorges.
Hamlet famous thanks to its Assomption church, with Romanesque art, built during the 12th century, and the chapel of Cénaret, Roman edifice from the 12th century, built at the entrance of a cave with an underground lake and remains of an ancient mill, nowadays transformed into a crafts shop.
The hamlet is connected to the main road through a bridge with a single arch that crosses the river, in line with the high cliff that makes the meander of the Tarn. At the bottom of this marvelous bridge, a small pebble beach is arranged to cool down in the river or take a break during a canoe-kayak descent in the Gorges.
A resurgence, which flows into the Tarn with a waterfall, is also very much appreciated by bathers and canoe users.
There is something enchanting in the hamlet of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn.
