CHAPELLE SAINT-GERVAIS - HAMEAU DES DOUZES - HURES-LA-PARADE

'Douzes' means resurgence in Occitan: the Jonte indeed goes 3km deep underground upstream Meyrueis only to come out again 7km later. It is there that a mill was set up, and therefore this is how the hamlet Les Douzes was created, whose inhabitants stay faithful to the chapel Saint-Gervais. For each death, the inhabitants take turns to carry the deceased to the graveyard adjoined to the small church and its small clock tower.
