Nice little town built in terraces halfway up the hill from where it dominates the valley. In the village, sculpted testimonies (windows, coat of arms) prove to us that there was a past full of history.
From 1053, we have found the presence of the Lords of Montbrun; many noble families have ruled there after successive alliances.
Montbrun depended on the house of Anduze, but it was also faithful to the Bishop and paid the census to the prior of Sainte-Enimie. The Lord of Charbonnières also had his share because not far from Montbrun, the Château de Charbonnières played an important part. In 1580-1588, it was taken and taken again several times by catholics and protestants.
Montbrun was pillaged and ravaged alongside its castle (from which there is nothing left) and its church in 1583-1584 by Roan Brother of Merle.
The church Saint-Pierre de Montbrun was entirely restored in 2009 and 2010.
Only the apse dates back to the Romanesque era, it was rearranged after the Religion Wars.
