Saint-Julien d'Arpaon: Château de Montcalm
Charming Cévennes village overlooking the river Mimente, where the impressive wall faces of a castle are erected. Mentioned during the 13th century, it was the possession of Anduze lords who had the barony of Florac. Dismantled at the beginning of the 17th century, it will come back as heritage of the Montcalm family during the 18th century, a family from Rouergue which had several properties on the Gévaudan, who will restore it. Neglected and abandoned, it will serve, among other things, as a quarry to built the houses of the hamlet.
