48400 LES BONDONS
The Château de Malbosc was a part of the defence system of the Bédouès-Cocurès valley. Located in the gully that goes up towards the 'Puechs' of Les Bondons and under 'L'Esquino d'Ase' along an ancient drover's road, there is nowadays almost nothing left of it. Some remains of the rampart walls surround the parochial church, which is the former seignorial chapel.
Malbosc, in other words, 'bad wood', was a castle of the barony of Anduze. From the 14th century, the history of this family is linked to the Château de Miral. The chapel Saint-Privat de Malbosc is a rearranged Romanesque building.
The hamlet of Malbosc was built on a rock and its alleyways brave the slope. Some houses were set up facing the valley. Roaming in the village, it is possible to discover many architectural details, remains of the ancient castle.
The access to the village is by a very narrow road.
