TRACES DE PAS DE DINOSAURE - CANS ET CEVENNES

The Saint-Laurent-de-Trèves site is actually located on what geologists call an erosional remnant, or butte témoin.
During the Jurassic period, the limestone of the Causses was formed, and in the Late Jurassic, dolomitic limestone deposits accumulated.

During this same period, between 190 and 140 million years ago, many reptiles — including dinosaurs — left their footprints in the sediment.

At the Saint-Laurent-de-Trèves site, the tracks discovered belong to a Grallator, an ancestor of the Tyrannosaurus, which would appear more than 100 million years later.
The Grallator had three toes on each hind limb and walked upright on its back legs.
