Sophie Faure is a passionate blacksmith and blade-smith based in Lozère; she welcomes you into her workshop to share with you the ancestral art of crafting knives. Sophie specializes in blades made from Damascus steel; she crafts each knife by hand, in a way that combines tradition and innovation. Each item is the fruit of a thorough work of forging, bending and hammering, creating a unique piece enriched with a distinctive pattern.
During the tour, Sophie will detail for you each step of the fascinating knife-crafting process. This will be an unforgettable moment both for artisanship aficionados and people who are curious about metal and wood works. Since last winter, Sophie is a “Maître artisan en métier d’art” (an honorary title for art-related crafts) – she is the only woman in Lozère who has that title! She will be pleased to introduce you to her passion and her universe.
