SAINT-LAURENT DE TREVES - CANS ET CEVENNES
SAINT-LAURENT DE TREVES
48400 CANS ET CEVENNES
Mostly known for its dinosaur tracks, nicknamed 'Grallator', the houses of the village are aligned on a spur and overlook the valley of the Tarnon. The houses were arranged between the castle and church. The former was located on the 'Castellas', on the spot of the tracks. Mentionned since the early 12th century, it was attached to the barony of Florac. It was destroyed during the 17th century. Elements of the edifice were retrieved and recycled in some houses. It is possible to find, here and there in the village, signs proving that there was indeed a castle: a lintel holds the coat of arms of the castle.
From the 'Castellas', in addition to the tracks, it is possible to observe the magnificent viewpoint on the Tarnon valley and Causse Méjean. Many signs give information on the site.
