The Causse Méjean is one of the Grands Causses, located in the southern part of the Massif Central. Covering an area of 340 square kilometers, it is the highest of the Caussenard plateaus, with an altitude ranging from 800 to 1,247 meters.

Composed mainly of limestone, the Causse Méjean features gently rounded reliefs, depressions, and dolomitic rock formations, whose chaotic shapes break the apparent monotony of the plateau.

Its natural borders are defined by the rivers that have carved deep canyons over time: the Tarn to the north and west, the Tarnon to the east, and the Jonte to the south.

The Causse Méjean lies at the heart of the Causses and Cévennes, a region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its exceptional cultural and natural landscape.
