HAUTES VALLEES DES GARDONS
48370 SAINT-GERMAIN-DE-CALBERTE
The upper valleys of the Gardons cover an area of around 74,000 hectares, stretching from Saint-Frézal-de-Ventalon to Saint-André-de-Valborgne (in the Gard department).
This territory is composed of schist valleys shaped by centuries of human activity, with features such as terraced slopes, chestnut groves, and irrigation channels (béals).
These valleys are home to remarkable wildlife and flora, including the short-toed snake eagle, Montagu’s harrier, peregrine falcon, Eurasian eagle-owl, as well as Narbonne rockrose and the round-leaved sundew.
