TRACES DE PAS DE DINOSAURE - CANS ET CEVENNES

The site of St Laurent de Trèves is actually located on what is called a hillock witness: a rocky promontory on the Corniche Cevennes. From here the gaze is on the Mont-Lozère massif opposite. It is here that traces of Grallator, an ancestor of the tyrannosaurus, which will appear more than 100,000 years later, have been discovered. The Grallator has 3 fingers on each hind limb and is standing on its hind legs. During the Jurassic, causse limestones formed, and during the Upper Jurassic the dolomitic limestones were deposited. During this same period, between -190 MA and -140 MA, many reptiles left their footprints, including dinosaurs. Source: DREAL Languedoc-Roussillon, September 2007.
