SITE NATURA 2000 - HABITATS : LES CHAUVES-SOURIS - GORGES DU TARN CAUSSES

Beneath the surface of the limestone plateaus, nearly twenty species of bats inhabit the territory of the Cévennes National Park, living in cavities carved by water over centuries. In winter, the lack of food forces them to hibernate. The caves and caverns, with their constant temperature and humidity, provide an ideal refuge as they await the return of warmer days.
